Referral website, not the contractor. How it works
Tree service in Tye covers removals, trimming, stump grinding, mesquite clearing and storm cleanup. To get help, send a request with the form, and pick "Tye" as your town.
Abilene Tree Pros is a referral website, not a tree service company. We send your request to one independent local tree service company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.
Tye is about eight miles west of Abilene and just north of Dyess Air Force Base, according to the Texas State Historical Association. Requests from Tye go to a local tree service company that serves the area; pricing and scheduling come from that company.
What's different about tree work in Tye
Tye's own limb pickup. The City of Tye picks up tree limbs for residents inside the city with an active water account, on the third Thursday of every month. The city's rules:
- Limbs cut to 4 feet or less, so one person can load them.
- Trunks are different from limbs. For large or multiple trunks, call Public Works.
- Loading should take five to ten minutes. Bigger piles need other arrangements.
- A roll-off container is available for $50, for limbs and brush only. Other garbage in it can raise the cost to $225.
- You can haul limbs yourself to the brush pile at the City Maintenance Yard, at the south end of Morgan St., Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Questions: (325) 692-8588.
The city calls limb pickup a courtesy for minor cleanup. For a removal or a big trim, ask the tree company to haul the brush, or plan on the roll-off.
A town that grew with the base. TSHA says the Tye field was built just south of the community during World War II and briefly served as Abilene's airport. It was reactivated as Abilene Air Force Base in 1956 and renamed Dyess Air Force Base later that year. Tye grew with it, incorporating in the mid-1950s. TSHA's population figures show 1,176 people in 2020.
On the highway and the rail line. TSHA places Tye at the meeting of the Missouri Pacific line, Highway 84 and Farm Road 707. The community was laid out by the Texas and Pacific Railway in 1881 as Tebo and took the name Tye in 1901. If a tree sits on a back fence line, know where your property line is before work starts.
Taylor County rules for burning. Tye is in northern Taylor County. The Texas A&M Forest Service says burn bans are set by a county judge or commissioners court during drought, so check Taylor County's status and any city rules before burning brush.
Abilene-area wind. The July 5, 2026 windstorm brought 80 mph winds to the Abilene area, and AEP Texas said trees blowing into lines broke and downed numerous line sections. Have damaged or dead trees looked at before the next storm. See storm damage tree removal for what to do first after a tree falls.

Typical costs for Tye homeowners
National guides checked in October 2026 put common jobs at:
| Job | Typical national range | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Tree removal, up to 30 feet | About $150 to $450 | HomeAdvisor |
| Tree removal, 30 to 60 feet | About $450 to $1,200 | HomeAdvisor |
| Tree trimming, per tree | About $430 to $640 | LawnStarter |
| Stump grinding, one stump | About $150 to $500 | HomeAdvisor |
These are national ranges, not Tye quotes. HomeAdvisor says some companies charge $50 to $200 for travel outside their usual area, so ask. If you'll haul the small brush to Tye's Maintenance Yard yourself, ask what that takes off the price. See the tree removal cost guide for more.
Before you get in touch
- Note the kind of tree, roughly how tall it is, and what's under it.
- Say whether any part of it is near a power line. Don't trim near lines yourself.
- Decide whether the company hauls the brush or you use Tye's pickup, roll-off or brush pile.
- Know where your property line is if the tree is on a fence line.
