How Our Tree Service Referral Works
Abilene Tree Pros is a referral website, not a tree service company. We send your request to one independent local tree service company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.
Who runs this site
Abilene Tree Pros is operated by The Gadget Aid, LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company. We publish this website and pass requests along to a local company. We don't employ climbers or crews, own trucks, chippers or stump grinders, or do any tree work.
We wrote the guides on this site from published sources: the Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, the USDA Forest Service, AEP Texas, the City of Abilene, the Cities of Clyde and Tye, the Texas Department of Insurance, the Texas State Law Library, the International Society of Arboriculture and national cost guides. Sources are listed at the bottom of each page. Prices are national ranges, not quotes.
How your request is routed
- You send a request. The form asks for your name, phone number, town, the service you need, how soon, and optional details about the tree. To start, send a request with the form.
- Your request goes to one company. We send it to one independent local tree service company that serves the area. We don't send your request to a list of bidders.
- The company handles the job. Pricing and scheduling come from that company. It will tell you whether it can take your job and what it charges.
- You decide. You're under no obligation to hire the company. Any agreement is between you and the company.
Who pays
Our service is free to homeowners; you never pay us. Companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals, and that's how this site is funded. We don't add anything to your bill, and the company sets its own prices, terms and schedule.
What we don't do
- We don't perform, inspect or supervise any tree work.
- We don't assess trees, diagnose disease or decide whether a tree is safe.
- We don't set prices, give quotes or collect payment for tree work.
- We don't promise anything about the company's work, availability or prices.
- We don't give insurance, legal or utility advice. Ask your insurance agent, a lawyer or AEP Texas.
- We don't send you marketing texts.
What to ask any tree service company
Whether you hire the company we refer you to or someone else, these questions protect you:
- What's the total price, in writing? Include cleanup, brush hauling, log removal and stump grinding, or say which ones aren't included.
- Can I see proof of liability insurance? Check that the name matches the company on the quote.
- Who assessed the tree? If the company says an ISA Certified Arborist did, ask for the name and verify it in the International Society of Arboriculture's directory at TreesAreGood.org.
- For oaks, when will you prune, and will you paint the cuts? The Texas A&M Forest Service says to avoid pruning or wounding oaks from February through June and to paint fresh oak wounds year-round.
- Is any part of the tree near a power line? AEP Texas says never trim near lines yourself, and asks for a call to 877-373-4858 at least two business days before work near the service line to your house.
- Do you need payment up front? Pay for work you've seen finished, especially after a storm.
Questions or complaints
If you have a problem with the company you were referred to, contact that company first. If it isn't resolved, or you want us to stop sending your requests, email us at [email protected]. We can stop referring to a company that doesn't treat homeowners fairly.
